Robots have always left society torn between extremes, on one hand we see them as artificial servants who's purpose is to provide humanity a helping hand and almost simultaneously we find an uncanny feeling that these mechanical beings could exceed the limitations of their human counterparts ultimately leading to the extinction of mankind.
Yet despite our naturally occurring fears of metal beings destroying all of humanity we find ourselves afraid of the wrong thing. Robots are not the real threat, rather it is the rise of artificial Intelligence that could end life as we know it. AI sets the difference between the manufacturing robots you see in automotive assembly lines that have only a limited set of skills and a robot like Baxter that can learn how to do a multitude of basic skills on its own. By ending life as we know I don't mean that we will necessarily experience an apocalyptic event, but the fact that robotics and AI are growing exponentially humanity will have to find a way to incorporate Artificial beings in our daily lifestyles thus changing the way we once lived before and ushering in a new epoch of Artificial Intelligence upon the shoulders of man.
